Partner Teachers
The Partner Teacher is the classroom teacher who works closely with one Pre-service Teacher, opens their professional life to the Pre-service Teacher, and very gradually increases the Pre-service Teacher’s involvement in classroom curriculum, learning, and activities. Pre-service Teachers cannot legally take on the various responsibilities of teaching without the presence and guidance of their Partner Teacher. Therefore, if Partner Teachers are absent, they must ensure that there is substitute supervision. This is a legal requirement. A Pre-service Teacher should not be required to take on the full teaching responsibilities of the Partner Teacher during the teacher’s absence.
